ACHIEVEMENT COACHES –  Schools – a  great CPD opportunity

Achievement Coaches JD

To meet future growth we seek experienced school leaders, school improvement experts and professionals with Special School or behaviour Management experience for seconded backfill and employed positions as Achievement Coaches across England.  We have forthcoming opportunities in Birmingham, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Harlow, Thurrock, Essex, Kent, Hampshire, Portsmouth, Milton Keynes, Hertfordshire, Plymouth, Dorset, Devon and Somerset. (Applications from other regions are welcome for future requirements)

There are 2 possible models for joining us as an Achievement Coach:

  • Secondment from Local Authorities or Schools (only existing Achievement for All registered/pilot) at £200 per day (back fill)
  • Part-time and full-time employment at £39,000 p.a. pro rata.

Achievement for All is a tailored school improvement framework, delivered in partnership with leaders, teachers, parents, pupils and support professionals to raise the aspirations, access and achievement of pupils identified with SEND. Through bi-weekly visits and INSET training, Achievement Coaches work in partnership with schools to create and implement individualised school-specific programme plans, to support leadership, teaching and learning, parental engagement and to develop wider outcomes.

Achievement for All 3As is an exciting new charity that is delivering the Achievement for All framework nationally on behalf of the Department for Education after a pilot in 454 schools showed unprecedented results. Children with SEND in the pilot progressed faster than the national average for all pupils, persistent absenteeism dropped by 10% and schools reporting “excellent” relationships with parents went up fourfold.

Achievement for All aims to build a community of best practice and give back to the school system; for this reason, we are offering this opportunity for schools and Local Authorities to second staff to the programme. This is the preferred route, as it provides outstanding CPD for school and Local Authority staff, compensated through a back-fill payment. It is also possible to join as an Achievement Coach as full- or part-time employee.

Success will require working collaboratively with senior leaders in a range of schools. You will have:

  • A successful track-record working in maintained English schools to transform outcomes for vulnerable pupils;
  • At least assistant head teacher, SENCO or advisory level experience in school improvement;
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of policy and practice in SEND and school education broadly; and
  • A relentless focus on outcomes, driven by the belief that all pupils can learn and progress, whatever their backgrounds.

We are looking for self-motivated and flexible team players with a successful track record in the pursuit of educational excellence, especially for vulnerable pupils. You will have shown yourself to be adept at networking, planning and organising and someone who sees solutions.

This is an opportunity to change the lives of others . If your experience, skills and motivations match the job description please send a full CV and covering letter as a single attachment detailing how you meet the requirements of the role to – coach.recruitment@afa3as.org.uk clearly stating:

  • preferred location
  • how many days per week you are available
  • whether you would be seconded or employed
  • when you would be able to start
